ERL and E-MAS employees have recently enjoyed blowing off some steam by participating in two fun recreational activities – the KERL Explore Race 2022 on 24 September and Hari Sukan Negara 2022 on 8 October.
KERL Explore Race 2022
The race saw almost 80 ERL and E-MAS staff members in 19 groups who had to solve challenging clues and wade through a series of various checkpoints in their cars, starting from Salak Tinggi and finishing at Pasir Puteh Resort in Kalumpang, Selangor. The winning group who completed all the checkpoints with the highest amount of money in hand were then greeted with a hamper full of delicious snacks and a cash prize of RM1,000. Lunch was held at the fourth checkpoint, which was the HQ of Yayasan Basmi Kemiskinan in Serendah and donations were made to the orphans and asnaf as part of ERL’s CSR initiative.

"It was my first time being involved in a company event so I was very excited to see many new faces from both ERL and E-MAS. It was also surprising to see another side of them that I have never seen before - in a good way of course!
My three team mates and I got along very well too. Our game faces were on as soon as we caught up to the other groups at the second checkpoint. Despite the tough clues that we had to crack and all the challenges we've had to face (especially when we had to hold a huge snake), we won the first place in the end!
Throughout the race, there were many times where I noticed how important teamwork is. For instance, most of the groups would put their rivalry aside to help solve clues and exchange answers with the other groups. It also showed that we all cared more about making it to the end together rather than leaving any group behind. I really enjoyed meeting new people and doing something that was out of my comfort zone. I would definitely look forward to joining another event like this again!"

"I found this Explore Race 2022 more challenging compared to similar events organised by our Kelab Sukan ERL in the past. The tasks were time consuming and quite difficult to solve. At one point, a lot of us wrongly solved one clue and thought that the next checkpoint was at Masjid Putra but with the help of the other groups, we all managed to make our way to the correct checkpoint in Taman Botani! I am proud that we managed to get 6th place, thanks to our team effort and determination to win.
There were many new faces in E-MAS so it was nice to see everyone getting to know each other better that day. I would highly recommend everyone to come and participate in the next event as it is a good opportunity for us to get to know our colleagues. However, do be mentally and physically prepared. I was very tired towards the end but it was worthwhile – it was a very memorable day, indeed!"
Hari Sukan Negara
Hari Sukan Negara was organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports with the main activities taking place on 8 October 2022 in Putrajaya. A total of 30 ERL and E-MAS employees also took part in the iconic programme activities which included a 30-km Neon Ride, a 10-km Fun Ride, a 5-km Fun Run and a 3-km Fun Walk. ERL was also invited to open a booth under the Ministry of Transport (MOT) at the Sports Pavilion.

I love to run in my free time so it was a great opportunity to take part in the 5-km Fun Run this year and get back to a sense of normalcy after COVID-19. I could still hear the buzz of excitement in the air that day as I joined thousands of other people at the starting point. I felt proud of our national diversity as I looked at them – all ages and races, shapes and sizes.
Although I didn’t win, I still got to bring home a medal which would remind me of the joy I felt running across the finish line. It was definitely a day that I will never forget and I cannot wait to join the next sporting event with my colleagues and friends.
